Join a team of Ecologists working in a multi disciplinary Environmental Solutions Group. To provide a high standard ecological/environmental capability & output. To operate in
compliance with IEEM Code of Professional Conduct and with strict regard to relevant legal requirements. To continue to develop professionally and to make a positive contribution to the performance of the Company.
Undertaking field surveys for protected species/habitats, reporting findings, to undertake the consultation process, complete impact
assessments,. design, negotiate agree and implement mitigation programmes project management, internal and external customer/stakeholder
liaison.

Planning and undertaking a range of ecological surveys connected with the workload of the Company. Analysis and interpretation of results and assessment where required. Design and development of mitigation/ecological management measures either individually or in collaboration with others. Preparation of draft and finalised reports and other documents as required. Managing projects where required. Ensuring compliance with company systems and health and safety measures. Preparation of input to marketing and bid documents, presentations etc. where required. Pursuance of agreed Continuing Professional Development activities.
Liaison with clients and third parties where required

Desirable Qualifications MSc in Ecology or related discipline, Member of IEEM or equivalent recognised institute.
Essential Qualifications BSc in Ecology or related discipline, Associate Member or working towards IEEM or equivalent recognised institute.
Essential Skills or Background 4+ years experience of ecological consultancy or similar. Protected Species experience, experience in field survey techniques.

Our client is looking for an Ecologist for the Environmental Assessment Team in our London Office. The appointed consultant will contribute to a broad range of ecological assessment projects. Although a broad range of ecological knowledge is desirable for the position, an emphasis will be placed on experience of survey and mitigation for protected species, particularly bats. The candidate will be expected to further their bat survey and mitigation skills through continual learning, with the aim of becoming a licence holder for both bat roost survey and bat roost mitigation if they are not yet already.

The current vacancy is for an Ecologist in our London Office, which undertakes a broad range of environmental assessment projects, including environmental impact assessments, strategic environmental assessments and similar work, for a mixture of private and public sector clients. Current projects include EIA for transportation schemes (highway and tram), and land developments (hotels, schools etc).
Ecologists within the London office are part of the Environmental Assessment Team is part of the Environmental Solutions Department - a dynamic and rapidly expanding group covering a number of sub-disciplines including waste management, landscape architecture, sustainability, ecology and geosciences. The Department is supported by other similar teams around the UK and internationally. Ecological resources are a feature of several of the UK offices and opportunities exist for working with Ecologists from these offices and undertaking internal training with them.

Desirable Qualifications Holder of a Natural England licence for disturbance of a bat roost for the purposes of survey. Holder of a Natural England licence for exclusion of a bat roost.
Membership of IEEM or the BES would be advantageous.
Essential Qualifications The successful candidate will have a degree in environmental science or similar relevant subjects.
A full driving licence is essential.
Essential Skills or Background The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience (paid or voluntary) of working within the field of British or Northern European ecology, with an emphasis on bat survey and mitigation.
Working knowledge and understanding of relevant UK legislation, particularly for protected species, is essential.
Although part of a team, the candidate would be expected to act in a proactive manner towards organising their workload.
Personal Characteristics Good written English, report writing and editing skills and computer literacy are essential. A strong attention to detail is important in producing robust Environmental Statements. The candidate will be a good team player with the ability to manage their time in an effective manner.
