FM1634 - Senior Bridge Technician - £25 to £35,000 – Birmingham

  • Due to a buoyant workload the Bridges and Civil Structures Team require a significant number of new staff, increasing its current 20 strong team. The Team are currently working predominantly in the Highway sector, however are embracing the UK Strategy to grow its rail capability. Current schemes include: M3 Clonee to North of Kells PPP Value Engineering and detail design of the River Bridges, Special Overbridges, and Standard Overbridges as part of this 56km Design and Build scheme. Starts Dec 2006 M40 Junction 15 Improvement, England – £68m Design and Construct Contract with Morrison Construction. Optioning and feasibility design of 18 structures, including a main crossing over the M40, for the realignment of the dual lane A46 bypassing junction 15. Detail design starts Summer 2007. Mafraq Interchange Reconstruction, Abu Dhabi – Detailed design and production of contract documents for two 850m prestressed concrete viaducts, and a 78m central bridge to AASHTO design standards. Network Rail's Civils Framework Agreement South East (Anglia) with Kier Construction, the 5 year framework covers bridge inspection/assessment, strengthening and replacement. Project commenced July 2005.

  • Stratford International Extension (Package 6). £120M Design and Build project with Hochtief / Norwest Holst JV. Responsibilities included the tender design of 2 new stations, and the refurbishment of a third. A45 / A46 Tollbar Junction Improvement, England – £65m Design and Construct Contract with Morrison Construction. Optioning, feasibility design, structural assessment of 8 structures, including the construction of a underpass, for the realignment of the dual lane A46. Detail design starts Winter 2007. Stratford International Extension (Package 8). Tender design of the station box linking to Stratford International Station, its approach structure, associated civil structures, and a substation. Westminster City Council, General/Principle Inspections, England – Inspection and reporting on over 30 structures, access bridges, underpasses, and subways within the City of Westminster. Term Contract with Staffordshire County Council – provision of technical advise / design / and Project Management services to the council on Highway and Bridge schemes within the county. Pollution Prevention, England – Inspection, assessment and detail design of water retaining structures at Network Rail light maintenance depots across the UK.

  • To work under the direction of project managers and/or Design Team Leader in ensuring the production and technical quality of drawings on UK and international projects. Projects include the conceptual design, detailed design, and design development of civil structures, new bridges and the refurbishment of existing structures, in the Rail and Highway sectors. Inspection of structures Identifying work opportunities, developing Client relations, and marketing the team. Mentoring more junior staff in all aspects of CAD, CAD-RC, and the practical aspects of design development Experience Required Essential Significant experience in CAD, and CAD-RC in the Rail or Highway sector

FM1633 - Principal Bridge Engineer - Rail - £37 to £48,000 – Birmingham

  • Due to a buoyant workload the Bridges and Civil Structures Team require a number of new staff, increasing its current 30 strong team. The Team are currently working in the Highway and Rail sectors, embracing the UK Strategy to grow its capability within the Midlands

  • Ensuring Technical Quality of UK and international projects including the conceptual design, detailed design, and design development of civil structures, new bridges and the refurbishment of existing structures, in the Rail and Highway sectors. Responsible as design team leader/Project manager within the team, providing support to the Function Group Manager in the overall management, and marketing of the team. Identifying work opportunities and developing Client relations. Financial responsibility and programme of projects. Overall responsibility for the Technical Quality of projects includes, Technical Review, Process, Technical risk management, and mentoring staff in all aspects of analysis and design development.

  • Desirable Qualifications Recognised qualification in project management Essential Qualifications Chartered Status of ICE or IStructE Essential Skills or Background The Candidate would be a Chartered Engineer with experience in the design of bridges and civil structure works, leading design teams and interfacing with other disciplines, preparing tender documentation, and an ability to communicate at all levels with Clients on Technical issues. It would also be desirable that the candidate has experience of working with overseas clients and a willingness to travel as part of project work.

FM1632 - Function Group Manager-Bridges & Civil Structures - £50 to £55,000 – Birmingham

  • Description Reporting to the Area Director and working closely with Technical Directors within the function and the UK Bridges & Civil Structures Function Group Director. A member of the office’s Management Team. Promotion of office business strategy at function group level. General management, commercial and technical responsibility for the Bridges & Civil Structures Function in the Birmingham Office. The Function is the UK Lead Centre for concrete highway bridges and has functional responsibility for Client Interface and Technical support teams in Dublin & Belfast. The function currently has some 30 staff in Birmingham. Current & recent projects in highway and rail sectors include: • M40 Jcn 15 and A45/A46 Tollbar Interchange ECI contracts with Morrison. • M3, N7 & N18 detailed & tender designs for Irish D&B contractors. • Bridges framework with Staffordshire County Council • Mafraq Interchange, UAE. • Project management for Network Rail

  • Responsibilities • To lead and be responsible for the Function Group • Member of office management team and responsible for implementation of agreed office policy at function group level • Determination and delivery of function group business plan, resource levels, utilisation, & profitability. • Setting function group key performance targets. • CM2 duties including project reviews with PMs in the function. • Monitoring and reporting on project performance and KPIs for the function group • Recruitment and performance management of function group team members • Knowledge of all projects, and project management of appropriate large projects, within the function group • Quality of service delivery for all projects undertaken within function group • Identification of training and development needs of team members to support function group business plan • Interfacing with local key clients at manager level • Acting as Bid Manager for designated opportunities

FM1460 - Project Manager / Project Engineer - Rail - £35 to £45,000 – Warrington

  • As a result of increasing workload in our clients North West Region, we require experienced Project Managers and Project Engineers to assist in the delivery of New Rail Stations and the refurbishment of major stations, together with the delivery of major rail civils works and bridge replacements. Working within the Rail and Civil Structures team, you will be capable of driving a team to ensure successful delivery to the satisfaction of the client.

  • To join an established team in Warrington with the successful delivery of prestigious schemes to Network Rail and the Highways Agency. Following the award of a number of high profile stations in the north west, we have the need for Project Managers and Project Engineers to oversee the delivery of these and existing exiting projects. Ongoing projects include the design of major new bridges for HA, design for new and refurbishment of bridges for Network Rail, design and supervision of new stations for Network Rail and the design of earthworks, water systems, including deep shafts for a variety of private clients. Rail experience - must have proven track record in delivery of rail projects to Network Rail.

  • Chartered engineer (ICE or ISTRUCTE). Experience in delivering projects in excess of £5million capital cost. Experienced in preparation of bid documentations and commercial acumen MAPM Member of Permanent Way Institution. Act as CRE on projects for Network Rail
